Top Ten Tuesday // Recently Added to My TBR

The Top Ten Tuesday Meme is brought to you via
The Broke and The Bookish

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Ahhhhhhhh! I haven't posted a Top Ten Tuesday since October?! It doesn't seem like it's been that long.  (It also doesn't seem like High School Musical came out 10 years ago. I guess this is what it feels like to become an adult. Life just flies right on by.)  But, anyway, I've missed this little ol' meme.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is "Books Recently Added to My TBR". You guys, I do not exaggerate when I say that I add a new book to my Goodreads to-read every day. There are currently 663 books on my to-read shelf.  When will I stop?  When I get to 1,000?
Eh, probably not...

Here is my list:

1. In the Country We Love: My Family Divided by Diane Guerrero.   Diane is such a talented and gorgeous up-and-comer in Hollywood.  I love watching her in Jane The Virgin.  She spoke at my alma mater last year, but I didn't get to see her.  Picking up this book will be the next best things.  (And, I also really love how the contrast between the cover and the story; the cover is pretty and fluffy but the story is sad and heartbreaking).  2. The Moth and the Flame by Renee Ahdieh. When Renee announced that she was writing The Wrath and the Dawn novellas, I literally squealed.  TWATD was one of my favorite books of 2015.  I was already highly anticipating The Rose and the Dagger.  Now we get even more of Renee's beautiful writing.  This novella prequel focuses on Jalal and Despina's relationship (Yes YES a thousand times YESS!).  3. The Crown and the Arrow by Renee Ahdieh.  The other TWATD novella. This story comes from Khalid's perspective, detailing his take on the mysterious girl who won his heart and put a stop to his ruthless killings.   4. Dimple and Rishi by Sandhya Menon.  This book was recently acquired by Simon Pulse, and I feel like there's already a bit of buzz surrounding.  It's a YA Contemporary Romance about "two Indian-American teens whose parents have arranged for them to be married."  I think it sounds fun!  Also, #WeNeedDiverseBooks  5. Survival Songs by Meggie C. Royer.  I recently discovered Meggie's beautiful, inspirational writings on Tumblr.  And, they really spoke to me.  So, I would love to support her and pick up one of her (very hard to come by) books.
6. Living Color by Jodi Picoult. Ohhh, my goodness gracious! Ok, so Jodi Picoult is one of my
favorite authors and I had no idea that she had a new book coming out until like two or three weeks ago. (Thanks to Nic Stone for the heads up!)  But, that synopsis, though! Jodi is tackling race! I'm excited! I can't wait! I need it now! 7. Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard.  Gorgeous, gorgeous cover and intriguing synopsis.  The book deals with best friends and mental illness.  Yep, I want it! 8. Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories by Various Authors. Ahem, "various authors" includes Stephanie Perkins, Leigh Bardugo, Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare and more!  We are talking YA heavyweights, people!  I'm so excited for this.  I've never read anything contemporary romance from Cassandra or Leigh so I'm so eager to see them write outside of their usual genres.  NEED NEED NEED.  9. If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson.  I'm not sure why I've never read this one.  But, it was recently brought to my attention and I added it to my to-read shelf so that I wouldn't forget about it again.  A poignant story of tragedy and diversity, I feel like this is less of a to-read and more of a must-read for me.  10. The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter.  Everyone keeps talking about how amazing this debut is and I just need it.  Another story about mental illness, the synopsis has me hooked -- "The beautiful struggle of a girl desperate for the one relationship that has caused her the most pain."

There's no such thing as too many books...

  1. What books have you added to your TBR recently?  I need some recommendations!

    1. Diane is awesome! I can't wait to read this story about her life and her family. Deportation and immigration is a hot topic and I think it's important to consider the perspective of those who are affected by our system. Thank you for commenting, Giovanna!
