2016 Bookish Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope that your first day of 2016 has been full of love and happiness and good reading.
2015 was a really amazing year, but 2016 holds plenty of promise.
I am definitely looking forward to this New Year, to having a fresh start, and to just being better. A better blogger, a better reader, and a better person.
Behold my 2016 Bookish Resolutions!

Blog

  • More posts (2-3 per week) -- I definitely slacked off in 2015 with posting to my blog. Sometimes I'd go weeks or even months without writing.  I need to be better about this, so I will be creating a blogging schedule for myself.
    • More discussion posts -- my blog is full of book reviews and weekly memes, and I just really need some fresh content.  I want to share my thoughts on other aspects of the book world with all of you!
  • I want to interact more with other bloggers -- I follow a lot of people and read their blogs, but I don't feel like I comment enough or reach out on social media enough.  I need more blogging friends!

Books and Reading

  • I MUST PUT A DENT IN MY 100+ TBR PILE!  Unfortunately, I'm going to have to start the year off with a book buying ban, because my ever-growing stack of TBR books is starting to seriously stress me out.
  • Read more books, of course!  More specifically:
    • Non-fiction
      • Biographies & Memoirs
    • Diverse books
  • I really want to better organize my Goodreads.  Goodreads is the only tool I use to keep track of what I read, so I should probably keep my shelves a little more structured.  It's a maze over there right now.  I've got a "to-read" shelf for books I want to read.  A "tbr-so-heavy" shelf for books I own and haven't read yet.  And, a "kindle-tbr" shelf for the books I have on my Kindle and haven't read.  And then, I have a bunch of other shelves that I'm not really sure what they are or why they're there.

Life

I want to strive to be better in all things.  To be kinder.  More positive.  More loving.  More appreciative.  2016 is going to be a good year for me.  I can feel it in my bones.  And, I'll accept nothing less.

I hope it's a good year for all of you as well!

New Year.  New Goals.  New Books.

  1. What are your bookish resolutions for the year ahead?
  2. Are your Goodreads shelves as messy as mine?
  3. Is your TBR pile crushing you?

  1. I totally agree with you on the TBR craziness! I have a whole shelf dedicated to it now. Granted, it's small shelf, but still. TOO MANY BOOKS! I love your resolutions! They're admirable :) Mine are to read more historical fiction, try and make a solid dent in my TBR pile, not stress too much on when I post, and definitely reach out more to the fellow bloggers!<3 Cheers to the new year!

    1. Hi, Mariah! I like your resolutions, too. I want to try to read more historical fiction, too. I've heard a lot of good things about books like Burial Rites by Hannah Kent and All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (those are at the top of my Historical Fiction list). And, you're already doing well with reaching out to fellow bloggers! Thanks for commenting! Cheers!
