Top Ten Tuesday // Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR

The Top Ten Tuesday Meme is brought to you via
The Broke and The Bookish

Well, hellooooooo!  And, Happy Tuesday!

Tomorrow is the official first day of Fall 2015!  Fall is my absolute favorite season; there are pumpkins, and scarfs, and sweaters, and beautiful changing leaves, and rainy days (perfect for reading), and tea, and Thanksgiving.  And, that's also when my favorite television shows come back (Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, Chicago Fire).  What's not to love about fall?

In honor of the start of the new season, this week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is the Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR.

I tend to find that I have a different reading mood for each season.  Summer is for reading Contemporary Young Adult novels, especially romance.  Winter is for reading Fantasy.  During the spring, I tend to go through a New Adult phase.  And, in the fall I favor darker-themed books, especially in October when Halloween is near.  So, you'll find that most of the books on my fall TBR are filled with mystery and eeriness and death.  The one exception is Outlander, which my best friend Cheryl and I decided to read together.

There are over 100 books in my TBR right now, which is incredibly intimidating and stressful.  So, all of the books I've chosen for this list are books that I already own and am trying to clean out of my TBR.

Without further ado, the Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR:

What Books Do You Plan On Reading This Fall?

  1. Have you read any of the books on my list?  Are any of them on your TBR list?
  2. Did you complete a Top Ten Tuesday this week?  If so, be sure to link it below!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Talk to you next week!

  1. The Dream Thieves!! I love The Raven Cycle series. I'm planning on reading Blue Lily in the next week or so and can't wait for The Raven King to be out. I hope you love the 2nd book as much as I did!

    1. I hope so, too! I've put it off so long that I've pretty much forgotten the details of the first book. But, I can easily go to Recaptains to refresh my memory. Thanks, Michelle!

  2. A Monster Calls has got such beautiful art! It has the perfect atmosphere for fall. The Assassin's Blade was great too (no surprise there) and it really added to the series. I'm hoping to start The Raven Boys series this fall, and I'm glad to run into someone else who has still not read The Darkest Minds! I have owned it since it was first released, but just never seem to get to it!
    Great List!

    1. The Darkest Minds has been sitting on my shelf FOREVER. I don't know why I've put it off for so long, because I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'm really excited for A Monster Calls. And, of course, Sarah J. Maas is my absolute favorite :) Thanks for dropping by, Mallory!

  3. Embarrassing though this is, I still need to read the entire 'Throne of Glass' series! Fall does sound like a great time to do just that... and perhaps I will. :)

    1. You should definitely read the Throne of Glass series. Like right now! Hahaha. It's by far one of my favorite series. I'm actually kind of jealous that you get to read it for the first time. I wish I could read it for the first time again, and just binge on all four books. SO good, SO worth it. Thanks, Rissi!

    1. Wow! Six?! That's impressive! I can't wait to read Vicious. The only other book by V.E. Schwab that I've read is A Darker Shade of Magic and I really like that one! I hope I love Vicious just as much. Thanks for dropping by, Lauren!

  5. I absolutely adore A Monster Calls. It's not a happy read, but so well written and heartbreaking.

  6. That's interesting, I don't have different moods for different seasons. It's pretty much all fantasy/sci-fi all the time lol. Vicious, The Raven Cycle, and The Darkest Part of the Forest are all books/series I want to read but haven't got around to yet. TBRs really never end, do they?

    1. You're right: TBRs never really end. But I've got a lot of books (that I might not love), taking up a lot of space. Hahaha. I could definitely read fantasy all year round, as well. But, I try to change things up a bit! Thanks for commenting, Kristen :)

  7. Great list! I might also pick up Patrick Ness books when I finish the ones on my top 10 list. I enjoyed The Darkest Minds and The Raven Cycle when I read them, I hope you like them too! And Neil Gaiman's book is love!

    1. I really hope that I like The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It will be the first book that I read by Neil Gaiman, and I've heard nothing but praise for his work. And, I'm really excited for The Darkest Minds and The Dream Thieves. I've put both of those off for way too long! Thanks, Miharu :)

    1. Thanks! I'm really looking forward to The Dream Thieves. I feel like it's one of those series with a pretty large fandom, so it must be good. Also, I've read all of Sarah J. Maas' books except for her novellas. I'm not sure how that happened. But, she's one of my favorite authors, so I'm sure I'll love The Assassin's Blade!

  10. I need to add The Ocean at the End of the Lane to my TBR list! I'm also finding that my reading tastes have changed with the seasons. I was plowing through fantasy and speculative fiction books over the summer, but now I've found myself focusing on nonfiction works as fall approaches.
