September Wrap-Up!

Well, look who it is!

Sorry for the lack of engagement last week.  One word: College.

The good news is that I have gotten the first full month of Senior Year out of the way (and, boy has it been a doozy).

September went by really fast, which is strange for me because I feel like it's usually one of the longer months of the year.  But, I've been crazy busy this past month, which made everything a blur.  But, alas, it is October!

October, November, and December are my favorite months of the year, because they each have a big holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, CHRISTMAS).  At my University, Halloween is a BIG. FREAKING. DEAL.  Seriously.  There is a Wikipedia page about our festivities.  Basically, everyone gets dressed up and heads out to Franklin St. to see all of the cool costumes and it is really insane, but also incredibly fun.  And, the street looks like this:

So, that's a thing.  And, then there is Thanksgiving and Christmas, my absolute favorite holidays.  I love anything that brings my family together.  I find that the happiest moments of my life are the simplest; those are the moments when I am gathered around a table with my large, crazy, beautiful family.

But, before we jump into October, I feel that it's only right to give September a proper goodbye.

Here's my September in review...

Books I Read In September

I was able to get through four books this month.  The first book I read was The Raven Boys which I had started in August but never got around to finishing.  I have not written a review for this book and I don't think that I'm going to.  I gave it 3/5 stars on Goodreads.  Overall, I liked it.  I loved the characters and the story, but I felt that the book was very slow.

The second book I read this month was Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.  I actually did write a review for this one, so be sure to check that out.  I absolutely LOVED this book.

The third book I read was Eleanor & Park.  Again, I fell in love with this book from the first page.  Rainbow Rowell has easily become one of my favorite authors.  I have a full review of this coming soon in October.

Lastly, I just finished Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover a few nights ago.  I have a review coming out for this one as well, so stay tuned.  (SPOILER: I'm really conflicted about this book.  There were some aspects I liked, some I really didn't like.  Ugh!  We'll talk later.)

Books I Started In September But Haven't Finished

I started Eternal Night on September 6th.

Wow...

And, according to Goodreads, I'm only 11% into it.  That's just sad.

You guys, I was really excited when this book came out.  I'm a big fan of Carina Mackenzie's.  I used to read her work when she wrote entertainment news for Zap2it.  I watch (and love) The Originals, which she is a writer for.  But, this book...

I don't know what it is I don't like about it.  Well, I won't say that I don't like it, I'll just say that something isn't quite registering with me.  I think that it's the point of view that I don't like.  Also, there are a lot of characters, and it's really hard to keep up with all of them.

I'm not sure if I'll finish this in October, but I will eventually give it another try.  I have faith in Carina and I know she produces amazing work.  So, yes, eventually I will come back to this one.

Books I Plan to Read In October

  1. Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
  2. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  3. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
Hopefully I'll be able to read more than these three books.  I do have Fall Break in October which should allow me some time to read.  However, I just can't decide on what I want to read.  These are the books that I definitely know I want to read within the next month.
