Teen Wolf Weekly News Round-Up, Vol. 4

Guess who's back, back again
Teen Wolf Weekly News Round-Up's Back, tell a friend

Whew!  That last bit was a mouthful...

Hellooooooo, all my Teen Wolf friends.  I have missed you all dearly.  I hope you didn't think that I'd forgotten about you, because I didn't!

Life just got a little hectic for me in the past few weeks with the Easter Holiday, Finals Week, and a death in my family.  But, thanks for your patience and for not lashing out at me for not posting every week like I promised.

But, now that life has slowed down a little and things are back to normal, it's time to get back to business.  And, we've got a lot of catching up to do.

Season 4

The Synopsis

About 2 weeks ago, the synopsis for the fourth season of Teen Wolf was released.  It reads:
"Still healing from tragic losses, Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Kira return to a new semester of school with more human worries than supernatural, while also trying to help their new friend, Malia, integrate back into society. But Kate Argent's surprising resurrection brings a new threat to Beacon Hills along with the emergence of another mysterious enemy known simply as The Benefactor."
Well doesn't this sound intriguing?  Not only will Kate Argent be causing problems in little ol' Beacon Hills, but we get another villain as well?

The Benefactor.

What kind of villain name is that, though?  A quick Google search tells us that a benefactor is someone "who gives money or other help to a person or cause".  So, what could be the significance of this name to what our new villain has in store?  Feel free to post theories in the comments!

BiteCon

I didn't go to BiteCon because I'm a poor college kid.  However, the ladies of Not Another Teen Wolf Podcast were able to attend and provided quite a bit of news for Season 4.  A few important points:
  • We have not seen the last of Eichen House.  ("Echo House" was an incredible episode, so I cannot wait to see what else is going to take place in this creepy setting.)
  • The title sequence is going to change!  Now that Shelley Hennig is a series regular, there has been speculation that she will be added.
  • We are going to learn about the Martin family.  This is great, because we know very little about Lydia's family.  We just know that her mom is a teacher who used to play on The Vampire Diaries.
  • We might see Gerard this season.  But, I'm not sure if that's something to be excited about because that guy is cray...

Lacrosse

In Volume 3, I discussed the return of Beacon Hills High School Lacrosse.  We have some new team members (Dylan Sprayberry and Mason Dye), and our favorite resident kitsune is also gearing up in Season 4.  Now, here is a picture of our boys, Scott and Stiles.  They both look so different from Season 1.  Much older, more mature, and of course, even handsomer than before.  I wonder if Stiles will actually play this season?  I mean, the boy looks like he's been working out ;)

Season 3B

A Mystery Solved

My faithful readers will know that I have been stumped with the whole Gina Holden Mystery since the day "Echo House" aired.  And, for those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, here's a quick summary...

Way back when, actress Gina Holden tweeted about having a "top secret" role on Teen Wolf.

There was immediate speculation that, with Season 3B being Stiles centric and this role being "top secret", Gina would be playing Claudia Stilinski (Stiles' mother).

This is why I was so sure that we would see Stiles' mother in Season 3B.  And, guess what?

We actually did see Mama Stilinski.

Allow me to clarify.  Gina Holden was credited in "Echo House".   Initially, everyone thought it was a mistake because we didn't see her anywhere.  But, it turns out, we just had to look a little closer.  Here she is, when Stiles first enters Eichen House and he's looking around:

And, this person walking behind Ms. Morrell?

Yep, Claudia Stilinski.

So, why was her role made such a big deal if it was so miniscule?

It turns out, that Gina was actually supposed to appear in the episode a lot more.  But, the editors and writers thought that the episode was too confusing with Stiles' dead mother walking around, so they cut her out considerably.

Needless to say, a lot of fans are pissed.  Dylan was reportedly pretty upset, too.  He had put a lot into those scenes with Stiles' mom.  I mean, I am a little upset.  I would have loved to see Mama Stilinski and know it was Mama Stilinski, and not just some strange woman playing chess by herself.

But, the thing is that, even with Mama Stilinski in the episode, we still might not have known it was her.  Because, she and Stiles don't talk.  Rather, he sees her multiple times.  Audiences are supposed to be able to make the connection that this is Stiles' mother, and the editors felt that that was not clear enough.  So, they deleted her scenes.

I am keeping hope alive that we will see Gina Holden again in the future.  But, for now, I'm just satisfied knowing what her role was, and knowing that my speculations were indeed correct.

The Maze Runner

New Images

We have new images for The Maze Runner, a film I am beyond excited for.  These photos are courtesy of Page to Premiere.

That last picture is currently my computer background.  It looks so cool!

All of these images have got me anticipating Dylan O' Brien's big-screen-leading-role debut even more than I was before.  The set looks exactly how I pictured The Glade in my mind while reading.  I just love when book-to-movie adaptions are so accurate.

The Maze Runner hits theaters September 19th!

WonderCon

On April 19th, Dylan attended a WonderCon panel along with his costar Will Poulter, James Dashner (TMR author), and director Wes Ball.

You can find clips of the panel, like the one below, on YouTube.

Magazine Features

Let's just keep the Dylan train rolling...

If you do not subscribe to Nylon Magazine, you need to run out to your nearest magazine stand and buy the May Issue.  I know I'm going to, because I don't want to miss out on this:

That's right.  Dylan has a feature in the May 2014 issue of Nylon.  (He is not on the cover of the magazine.)  I wish I could tell you more about the feature, but I haven't read it yet :(

Dylan is also featured in Fashionisto Magazine, where he is looking classy and dapper:

His cover is 1 of 3 that buyers can choose from for Issue 10, others including Kellan Lutz and Future.

Big things are happening for Mr. O'Brien, and I am so happy for him.  He is an amazingly talented actor, and he deserves all of the recognition and praise he is receiving.

Hanging Out With Vampires

Daniel Sharman's New Role

Okay, this news has me bouncing around in my seat.  Mr. Sharman has been cast an important role in The Originals.

Now, I don't talk about The Originals very much, so allow me to tell you that I love this show.  When the writers for The Vampire Diaries added the Mikaelsons, the original family of vampires, to their show it was the smartest thing they had ever done.  And, when they created a spin-off, The Originals--pure brilliance.

Joseph Morgan is an astounding actor.  He is one of the few villains that I absolutely love.   No amount of praise I write down here could do him justice.  And, Daniel Gillies, who plays Morgan's brother on the show, is also amazing.  The show itself isn't perfection, but those two actors damn sure are.

Sharman will be playing the role of a witch (or warlock, if you prefer) named Kaleb who loves to have a good time.

I have not seen any of Daniel's other works (Immortals has been sitting in my Netflix queue for months), so I am excited to see him play a new and different role.

Out & About

Girl's Night Out

The ladies of Teen Wolf have been hitting the town and making splashes with their enviable fashion choices.  Below, we see Holland at Elle's 5th Annual Women in Music Concert.  She is wearing a dress from Erin Fetherson's 2014 Fall Collection.

Her sandals are from ASOS and her bag is Kate Spade (my favorite designer).

Crystal and Holland reunited at The 21st Annual Race to Erase MS.  Crystal was gorgeous and elegant in a red Lublu by Kira Plastinina number.   And, Holland was lovely in a pastel green Dee Hutton dress.

Insta-Goodness

Here are some lovely Instagram highlights from the past few weeks.

That's all for this week, folks.

It feels good to be back.

41 days until Teen Wolf Season 4!

See you next week.

Byeeeeeee!
